There’s a place I go for coffee that’s full of flowers. They’re on the floor, the tables, scattered on the counter. And the smell of soil and coffee makes you feel joined with nature throughout the world.
This is one special shop, and every time I walk through that little red door, and the bell tinkles, I’m in paradise for just an hour.

I did find it funny how the majority were registered out of Liberia or some land locked country. ...for tax reasons of course.

Cool. I encountered so many nationalities on those ships. I always researched the ships to see where they were from. They were where often Dutch owned ships with diverse crews. Many times the officers would be Dutch, Spanish, Ukrainian, or Russian and the crew would be from India, Sri Lanka or The Philippines. I ate on the ships as often as I could because it was always a surprise. I never knew what they would be serving. It was always different then what I was used to. And I liked about 80%.

Ow and btw on (dutch) ships coffee is freshly brewed at fixed times by the cook they have on board. Between coffeebreaks the captain might serve instant coffee. I know, cause my stepdad was a seaman and I sailed a few trips with him :)

I always brew my coffee fresh tandem. Even grind the beans myself:) In holland not many people use nescafe i think. I only use it when camping. The last few years more and more people use coffeepad-machines. Do you have them in the US? They brew one cup a time. I tried it but the taste started to bore me. Coffee-customs are very diverse in different countries of Europe. In my opinion Italian coffee is the best.

I used to work on the docks and I encountered a lot of Europeans (west and east) on the ships that loaded or product. I was out company rep so I would have to go on board for inspections and paperwork and such. I was always offered food and drink. It was cool. I happened to notice how they only had instant coffee. I would usually have a cup of tea anyway but it made me wonder if it was a European thing or a ship thing. I forot about it until you posted your nescafe pic.

So nescafe for instant and Maxwell house for fresh brewed?
finnvalley on November 4, 2011
Nescafé and Maxwell House are the two big brands over here. I like sorts of both, depending on mood.
Tandem25 re:finnvalley's toss on November 3, 2011
Is nescafe really popular there?
knah re:blondie's toss on November 3, 2011
If you could get that to grow in your garden it would be a moneymaker.
